{"id":161,"date":"2023-11-11T16:51:04","date_gmt":"2023-11-11T20:51:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/petrocisca.com\/?p=161"},"modified":"2023-11-11T16:51:05","modified_gmt":"2023-11-11T20:51:05","slug":"diseno-de-acidificacion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/petrocisca.com\/en\/diseno-de-acidificacion\/","title":{"rendered":"Acidification Design"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Generalities<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">For the vast majority of applications, the <strong>acidification design<\/strong> is used in <strong>sandstone reservoirs<\/strong> with the objective of sensitizing the removal of <strong>formation damage<\/strong>, prior to field work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">In formations where the quartz content is approximately 95%, it is possible to stimulate the formation by <strong>quartz solution<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">However, it can be stimulated in <strong>carbonate deposits<\/strong>, reaching a <strong>damage value of -2<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Depending on the treatment you want to apply, there are three types of acidification: <strong>acid washing<\/strong>, which has the purpose of removing deposits from the walls of the well or to open blocked perforated intervals, generally plugged with scales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Another type of acidification is <strong>matrix stimulation<\/strong>, which is nothing more than the <strong>injection of an acid<\/strong> into the formation at a pressure lower than the fracture pressure in a radial manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Finally, <strong>acid fracturing<\/strong>, which involves injecting acid at a pressure high enough to produce a <strong>hydraulic fracture<\/strong> within the formation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">With this type of acidification, <strong>highly conductive flow channels<\/strong> are obtained that, with a good <strong>proppant agent<\/strong>, can remain for a long period of time after the treatment has been applied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other uses of Acidification<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Acidification often serves as a hydraulic fracturing <strong>cushion<\/strong>, to <strong>dissolve fines<\/strong> and particles formed in the <strong>perforating process<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Breaks <strong>emulsions<\/strong> into formations that are sensitive to low pH or that are stabilized by particles that acid can dissolve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">It is also used to break acid-sensitive <strong>viscous gel<\/strong> type fluids in <strong>hydraulic fracture<\/strong> treatments, which have not broken after completing a treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">In <strong>cementing operations<\/strong> it is used before the process as a <strong>preflush<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">General Steps for Acidification Design<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/petrocisca.com\/en\/metodologia-para-seleccion-de-candidatos-a-estimulacion-de-pozos\/\" target=\"_self\">Select the most suitable well candidates<\/a><\/strong>, evaluating the <strong>severity of the damage<\/strong>, its location, radius of penetration of the damage and whether an acid can remove the aforementioned damage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><strong>Design the most appropriate treatment<\/strong> according to: the type of acid that can remove the damage from the formation and its compatibility with the formation and the fluids contained in it, maximum operating flow rate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Quality control<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Treatment monitoring<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/petrocisca.com\/en\/evaluacion-de-operaciones-de-estimulacion-matricial\/\">Result assessment<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Acid concentrations to use according to the type of Formation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"translation-block\">The main treatment will depend on the solubility it has with the minerals present.
